Job Description:

As a Publishing Consultant at CPA Canada, you will provide direction in developing, producing, publishing, and managing titles as published by Member Development and Support. Develops action plans as they relate to the editorial policy as well as external third-party publishing partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review existing publications and assess editorial and commercial direction for CPA Canada
  • Provide a strategic lens on guidance concerning overall content development and production-process
  • Deliver insights on the most effective way to maximize CPA Canada’s publication portfolio’s bottom line with a focus on expanding revenue on the right markets
  • Formulate a full roadmap on CPAC publishing strategy, including where CPA Canada should partner or publish
  • Assess the publishing landscape as it pertains to the accounting/business for comparison to CPA Canada products
  • Negotiation of contracts with other publishers who license our proprietary content for inclusion with their titles
  • Evaluate current publishing processes and use of technology at CPAC for printed and electronic publishing
  • Advising on alignment to industry best practice related to streamlined production processes
  • Leverage network of industry contacts, collaborating with authors and SMEs to enhance and further augment CPA Canada’s relationships with industry
  • Governance on the creation and maintenance of a contract management system – ensuring currency of all active contracts and proper termination of expired contracts
  • Recommend the planning and promoting of products through different editorial avenues
  • New project acquisition recommendations – leveraging market interests and needs
  • Collaborate with contributors or oversee editors who liaise with writers and authors
  • Advising on the development and implementation of editorial guidelines that provide editors and contributors with guidance on the style and tone of content for MDS
  • Offer oversight concerning the editing process and the layout of digital-production
  • Review the budget process by identifying opportunities for improving profit by reducing cost
  • Leverage quantitative techniques and conduct external audits to determine the quality and effectiveness of CPA Canada’s editorial offerings

  • Proven success at business development, including the capacity to identify and implement new growth opportunities

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in content creation, advertising, or planning across earned, owned, paid and shared spaces; experience within a digital or social agency strongly preferred
  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree with a focus on literature, journalism, mass communications with a firm grasp of English
