Job Description:
Working inside the upgrading engineering team will provide you with real-time opportunities to ensure our plant functions remain safe, sustainable, and cost effective. This role provides ongoing technical collaboration through cross-functional teams, and direct troubleshooting with maintenance and operations. Our goal is maintaining safe operational capability of the upgrading process units all while supporting continuous improvement, technical growth, and strategy/technology exploration.
Job Responsibilities:
- Discover cost advantages of repair alternatives and following through with action plans
- Troubleshoot equipment in complex systems, developing real-time and forward-thinking strategies
- Conduct analysis of reliability problems and investigate strategies to avoid failures
- Support a culture of safety and reliability, with attention to strategies, goals, and continual improvement
- Capitalize on technical expertise of damage mechanism mitigation and assessment for pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, storage tanks and furnaces
- Support new equipment projects by considering the maintainability and impact of costs to correct problems in design phase
- Take initiative in the assessment of emerging/ongoing risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
- Mentor our junior engineers, sharing technical know-how to support their growth
- Develop equipment repair methods, complete analysis of failures, and communicate these advanced concepts in detailed technical reports
Qualification & Experience:
- 5+ years upgrading, refining, and/or oil and gas industry experience
- Working knowledge of ASME BPVC, ASME B31.3, API 650/653, API 571, API 579, API 580/581
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)

- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A team-focus and capacity to collaborate to achieve common objectives
- Maintenance & reliability experience in process plants or refineries
