The Loan Officer Assistant performs vital functions that support the Mortgage Advisor (our Loan Officer) to focus on customer relationships and customer retention. The Loan Officer Assistant must play an integral part in increasing the Mortgage Advisor’s volume. The Loan Officer Assistant must remain current on product knowledge and underwriting guidelines. Receives inbound or places outbound calls to current and prospective Redfin Mortgage clients. May answer inquiries and resolve problems. Requires basic knowledge of the organization, products, and/or services. Requires strong customer service skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide world-class customer service and respectful, consultative guidance to clients
  • Act as the initial and ongoing point of contact for the customer and Realtors source, keeping them informed throughout the process
  • Assist Mortgage Advisors in appointment setting with prospective and new applicants
  • Work closely with our Mortgage Advisors to ensure a timely and accurate experience for our clients
  • Assist the Mortgage Advisor with reviewing for an accurate and thorough 1003
  • Request and review critical borrower documentation and loan information for accuracy
  • Request status updates from pre-approved clients and Realtors (weekly TBD calls)
  • Analyze customer’s credit and financial scenario and help determining appropriate loan product(s)
  • Maintain customer contact to ensure follow-up of loan application and answer basic customer inquiries while providing exceptional customer service
  • Prepare and submit loan applications to processing, helping to resolve any subsequent file issues

Job Requirements:

  • Receive ongoing, comprehensive training and become an expert on home loan products and the mortgage process
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, create calendar invites for meetings/closings/ etc. file and store emails
  • Create pre-approval letters after loan officer qualification
  • Pipeline Inspection: minimize lock expirations, missed contingency and scheduled close times
  • Prepare and send thank you cards to referral sources and new clients

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience using Fannie Mae’s Desktop Underwriter and Freddie Mac’s Loan Prospector
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about delivering excellence in customer service.
  • Demonstrated patience and professionalism when interacting with both internal and external customers
  • Self-directed with a strong desire to learn and be a member of a winning team
  • Excellent disposition, mindset and work ethic
  • Commitment to integrity and customer service
  • 1-3 years of mortgage experience preferred
  • Ability to work weekends from home
  • Active NMLS license or ability to obtain one in three months
