Job Description:
The Administrative Support Assistant II works under the general supervision and direction of the Department Administrative Support Coordinator and Department Chair and is responsible for the support and continuity within the department and for serving the students. The Administrative Support Assistant is the primary point of contact for all students advising in the Department. Works with major advisors in the Center for Student Success in Engineering to assist students in completing Master Plans when they first submit them, and then in updating them each semester. Reviews Master Plans which students submit electronically for accuracy and correct sequencing of courses. Directs students to Faculty Advisor for advice on courses and any other issues related to the students’ academic plan. Advises students on changes in major. Responsible for completing RAAR forms in the Department.
Job Responsibilities:
The Administrative Support Assistant II is responsible for publishing the Department Newsletter every semester. Maintains the departmental website, Linkedin, Facebook, pages. The Administrative Support Assistant assists the Department Coordinator with budgets and handling of the hiring, timecards, and payments of student assistants in the Department. There are usually about 45 student assistants in the Department per semester. The Administrative Support Assistant also manages the contacts with faculty, staff, and students about the delivery of packages for research and capstone projects. Also, assists with the preparation of materials for accreditation. Maintains records of all graduate students, handles internship opportunities.

Qualification & Experience:
- Two years of progressively responsible clerical, secretarial or administrative experience. (Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of preferred work experience.)
- Experience in an academic setting.
- Experience interpreting and communicating procedures, policies, and information to customers in person and/or over the phone.
