Job Description:

A key member of the EMEA Health & Safety Team, the role (beyond ensuring compliance) will assist in developing the Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture of Dyson. The role is responsible for executing all Health and Safety tasks in accordance with Dyson policy under the guidance of the Senior Health & Safety Manager (EMEA), throughout Dyson’s EMEA sites. This will span a variety of property types and locations, and will work out of the UK Malmesbury/Hullavington Campuses. Working alongside, and in support of, the other key personnel including Project Managers, Building Services Managers, Facilities Managers and Site Health and Safety Champions, this role will involve extensive stakeholder interaction and liaison.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Health and Safety considerations are established throughout the selection and use of third party contractors, including supporting CDM (or equivalent)/Project works. This includes partnering the capital project team to ensure that
  • Health and Safety matters are identified and considered at an early stage in the project and throughout.
  • Contribute to and implement the Global Health and Safety assurance program, ensuring Dyson’s Health and Safety
  • Standards are implemented (e.g. Assurance reviews of the permit to work process, capital projects and small works projects).
  • Support the implementation of the Global Health and Safety Policy and Standards, with particular regard to establishing
  • Health & Safety Committee Meetings (or other opportunities for employee consultation and partnership) and supporting
  • Health and Safety champions in each function/location.
  • Liaising (and partnering) with enforcing authorises as necessary, for example Local Environmental Health Officers, the
  • Health & Safety Executive or the local Fire Authority.
  • Develop and deliver innovative and engaging Health and Safety training, awareness and induction programmes / initiatives to ensure Dyson People at all levels understand their responsibilities with respect to Health and Safety and they are able to carry out their tasks and activities in a safe manner.
  • Monitor all related Health and Safety incidents. Provide assistance and support to managers and where necessary support the investigation of H&S incidents to identify underlying causes; recording findings and recommendations. Undertake analysis and internal/external reporting as required.
  • Contribute, manage, maintain and implement (but not limited to): the Global H&S Management System (included associated procedures and guidance documents), the ENHESA legislation tool, Dyson Learning and relevant Microsoft Teams sites.
  • In partnership with the Global H&S Manager (Retail and Events), provide operational Health and Safety support to Retail and Events throughout the region.

Job Requirements:

  • Good analytical skills; to be able to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions.
  • Ability to deliver training in a clear and concise manner with confidence.
  • Willingness to show initiative.
  • Good IT skills – proficiency with Microsoft package software.
  • Assertive; prepared to take action where required.
  • Good communicator; ability to convey Health and Safety issues concisely and accurately.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence.
  • Confident; comfortable with interacting with senior managers where necessary.
  • Credible; ability to demonstrate a level of competence in Health and Safety in order to gain stakeholder confidence.
  • Chartered IOSH Membership (or actively working towards).

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience of interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
  • Experience in influencing, motivating and managing others.
  • To have at least 5 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Adviser or similar.
  • Safety related BSC/MSC, NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
