Job Description:

We are looking for an editor-in-chief in BlackRock Alternatives Investors (BAI) who will sit within our Alternatives Marketing and Communications department and build a dedicated publishing unit that produces thought leadership for clients and prospects with the goal of elevating BlackRock’s position as a leader in Alternatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee editorial standards and guidelines of content based on strategic objectives
  • Spearhead BAI’s content marketing strategy and publishing effort working alongside our Investment Research & Strategy team to build exposure of Alternatives platform and accelerate growth
  • Lead team members and partners including external agencies, videographers, graphic artists and video editors on story briefings, planning processes to meet tight deadlines
  • Interact with BAI business leaders and portfolio managers to craft and integrate compelling investment insights into cohesive platform themes and stories
  • Build and manage a small production team to support the creation of content via modern, digital-first formats—website blogs, videos, podcasts, data visualization and infographics
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including global & local marketing teams, media relations, Legal & Compliance and client businesses to reimagine how content is produced for wider consumption
  • Write, edit, data mine, fact-check, and publish content across media platforms
  • Align thought leadership content around the marketing activation of key platform moments throughout the year

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work very quickly, deliver on or before deadline and go the extra mile
  • Superb writing and editing abilities, and excellent interviewing skills
  • A self-starter with loads of creativity, team spirit, versatility and persistence
  • Intense attention to accuracy, detail and consistency
  • Player-coach mentality, able to roll up sleeves to get the job done
  • Intellectual curiousity
  • In-depth knowledge – and passion for – global financial markets and alternatives investing
  • 10+ years of experience in senior reporting and editing positions in financial journalism or communications
  • Data mining prowess, ability to work with Excel and strong interest in graphic/design
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with ability to influence across stakeholder groups, and empower and enable team members
