Job Description:

The Power Operations Shift Manager (POSM) position is a rotating shift work position reporting directly to the Power Operations System Health Manager. The position is responsible for understanding, complying with, and executing work through the Power Operations Plan of the Day (POD). The POSM is responsible for ensuring the Plant Power Distribution System remains in the proper alignment and that the Y-12 Plant Power Distribution System is not placed in a compromised position due to maintenance or switching activities. The POSM is responsible for ensuring that the minimum shift staffing requirements for Power Operations call-in workers are met. The POSM is responsible for ensuring that the Y-12 Power Distribution System one-line board remains accurate and that all power operations permits are properly maintained.

Job Responsibilities:

The POSM is responsible for logging all power related switching activities, directing all power related switching activities, maintaining all power distribution work permits under Y18-102, and maintaining all caution tags associated with the power distribution system.

Job Requirements:

• Will make stakeholder contacts before, during, and after planned or unplanned outages
• Will work in conjunction with Issuing Authorities on plant lock out/tag out
• Will participate in work isolation walk downs
• Will advise the PSS on Power Distribution System questions
• Will participate in the development of switching orders
• Will have zone responsibility for the Power Distribution System material condition and will perform and report zone inspections

Qualification & Experience:

• OR, a Master’s degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• A thorough understanding of the Y-12 Power Distribution system and procedures is a definite plus.
• Twelve or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
• OR, a PhD.
• Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
