Job Description:

Event Programming Associate for the 2025 Season is responsible for engaging guests with hands-on activities and programming events throughout the zoo for our Run for the Wild event, Brew at the Zoo, Dinosaur Safari events, membership programming, Boo at the Zoo, and Holiday Lights events.

Job Responsibilities:

• Enforcing all safety policies for each area
• Assisting vendors, performers, and contractors with all needs
• Crowd management
• Assisting in hands-on activities
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions both cold and hot for extended periods of time
• Setting up and breaking down materials at beginning and end of day
• Adapt easily to changing circumstances in a busy work environment
• Getting a Fire Guard License for events (paid by WCS)
• Communicating with guests in a professional manner
• Wearing large mascot-style animal costumes for extended periods of time
• Lifting heavy objects and moving event items throughout the zoo

Job Requirements:

• Ability to independently resolve issues that may arise and ask for assistance as required
• Exhibit a proactive, outgoing and positive attitude
• Dependability and reliability/ Must work weekends and evenings
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Customer service orientation

Qualification & Experience:

• Ability to travel to Brooklyn to obtain a Fire Guard License
• Valid driver’s license a plus
• Must be comfortable wearing mascot style animal costumes for lengths at a time
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment and multitask
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions move objects weighing 20-50 pounds
