Job Description:
Ideal candidate must be highly driven, maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast paced environment. The Events and Catering Lead is responsible for running an event from start to finish, implementing event logistics, and managing and motivating a front of the house team. The Events and Catering Lead’s top priority will be to ensure a successful event that upholds WCS standards while adhering to WCS policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete event oversight to ensure a high level of service is delivered with consistency throughout pre-planning, load-in, service and break down
- Supervise staff during all aspects of catered events to ensure high quality service standards and presentations are met
- Reinforce first class service procedures and departmental standard operating procedures
- Implement and follow sanitary and safety practices for handling of alcohol, general cleanliness and maintenance of equipment as required by NYDOH and WCS
- Ability to move catering equipment and vendor related items ensuring proper safety standards within the department
- Prepare daily staffing assignments, diagrams, and stations for front of the house service
- Assist in coaching, training, development and supervision of all in house and outsourced staff, to assure success in coordinating flawless events
- Work closely with Events and Catering Manager & Assistant Managers on all aspects of Events & Catering operations
Job Requirements:
- Two to four years of experience in catering/banquet field, one year in a supervisory capacity
- Must possess a general knowledge of food and beverage procedures, control, and administration as well as a complete awareness and ability to perform all catering positions
- ServSafe, NYC Food Handler, ATAP, F-4 and BOH certification preferred
Qualification & Experience:
- Must be able to work independently and/or other team members with limited supervision
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have full availability including day shift and night shift hours, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work effectively under pressure, follow instructions and meet strict deadlines
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be reliable, neat, highly organized, and accurate
- Must be proficiency in Microsoft office
