Job Description:
Become a HR Benefits Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be part of the Health & Wellness team and will serve as the day-to-day subject matter expert in the administration of Edison’s Health & Welfare benefit plans. The Specialist interfaces with Edison internal departments (HR, Legal, IT), outsourced benefits administration vendor, employees, retirees, and beneficiaries to proactively surface and resolve system and/or participant issues.
Job Responsibilities:
- Resolves complex and elevated service, eligibility, and payroll related issues with outsource vendor.
- Ensures ongoing service delivery and administrative processes are delivered in alignment with plan specifications and ensures business requirement documentation is kept up-to-date.
- Participates in the development and implementation of ad hoc eligibility plan audits for all Health & Welfare plans.
- Serves as the lead for change management for plan design and/or administrative process changes with the outsourced vendor, including updating business requirement documents; participant communications; standard operating procedures and call tools; participating in call center representative training and website functionality testing.
- Serves as the Health & Welfare subject matter expert and lead for the annual enrollment project including: system development & testing with outsource vendor.
Job Requirements:
- Functional knowledge and experience with laws and regulations (such as ERISA, COBRA and HIPAA) associated with the day to day administration of eligibility for health & welfare plans.
- Three or more years of experience managing and working with 3rd party, external health & welfare record-keeping vendors.
- Call center or equivalent customer service experience.
- CEBS, SPHR, PHR designations.
- Knowledgeable about current developments in health & welfare benefits with the ability to suggest new ideas when applicable.
- Good oral and written communication skills to understand and appropriately respond to customer’s needs and/or appeals timely, establish trust and credibility with client organizations and facilitate the presentation of recommendations.
Qualification & Experience:
- Three years of experience with the administration of corporate health & welfare plans.
- Three years of experience working with and troubleshooting confidential human resources issues.
- Experience with typical large-sized corporate policies/procedures and state/federal law & regulations as they relate to health & welfare benefit plans.
- Experience with SAP to research demographic and payroll data.
- Certification in project management and/or six sigma training.
- Three or more years of experience in an analytical role in Human Resources in a large corporation.
- Experience achieving short- and long-term objectives through self and others by prioritizing activities, monitoring the progress of projects, and ensuring accountability for timely results within budget parameters.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
