Job Description:
This position is responsible for performing a broad range of community relations-related activities, including planning, implementing, and coordinating employee engagement programs to ensure corporate goals are met around employee giving and community involvement, internal communications, event management, and internal and external storytelling. managing a portfolio of SDG&E’s community partnerships with non-profit organizations, managing and supporting internal and external events, engaging SDG&E employees and executives in community partnerships, and contributing to and/or draft internal and external communication stories. The community relations advisor ensures that Community Relations programs and plans in their charitable giving portfolio are integrated with appropriate business unit organizations (e.g. DBE, External Relations, Customer Services, Customer Communications, Operations, etc.). The community relations advisor also manages and provides technical support and assistance to users of the SKY Blackbaud system that logs all SDG&E grants to non-profit organizations. This includes day-to-day operation of Community Relations-related IGAM and SKY Blackbaud systems functions, preparation of charitable giving budget and statistical reports, export of approved SDG&E grants to SAP and other internal accounting and payment management systems, and periodic training of current and new system users.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Design, implement, and lead employee engagement programs including Environmental All Stars, Steps4Good, SDGivE, and My Energy employee giving and volunteerism for San Diego-based employees (SDG&E and Sempra HQ). Manage relationships with associated non-profit partners.
- Data analysis, preparation of charitable giving budget, statistical reports and presentations.
- Draft Internal and external communication stories to showcase SDG&E’s employees and efforts in the community.
- Implement Community Relations plans and programs in support of business unit strategic goals and objectives. Manage a portfolio of SDG&E partnerships.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to create graphs and organization charts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent project management skills and can manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Excel – ability to create formula driven spreadsheets and graphs.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree Community relations, communications, public relations, or related field.
- PowerPoint – ability to create PowerPoint shows which incorporate Graphics, sound and animation.
- Valid CA Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform in a team environment by using cooperation, flexibility.
- 3+ years Community relations, public relations, public affairs, external affairs or related experience in a public facing role.
