Job Description:

Oversee and provide continued development of the formalized document control program used to maintain accurate and up-to-date Grid Control Operating Procedures. Takes the lead to ensure Operating Procedure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards, WECC Regional Reliability Standards, and CAISO requirements and contract agreements. Provides leadership for other Support Personnel involved in the Operating Procedure development, publication and distribution process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports department training efforts on Operating Procedures.
  • Determines the parties affected by the Procedures and ensures compliance with distribution restrictions. Distributes Procedures to appropriate personnel and authorizes the electronic and hard copy publication and posting on Grid Control Intranet site. Monitors coordination with all affected neighboring NERC Transmission Operators Neighbors, WECC and the CAISO to ensure audit-tracking compliance. Responsible for monitoring document storage, versioning, and security.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
  • Manages and oversees Grid Operations Department Operating Procedure document control process to ensure procedure compliance with all regulatory body Reliability Standards and contract agreements. Ensures that all operating personnel and others have access to the current versions of all Operating Procedures. Evaluates departmental Operating Procedure needs and determines, in consultation with others, the need to revise existing procedures or develop new procedures. Prepares and monitors schedules facilitating the timely and pro-active assessment and completion of Operating Procedures to maintain NERC compliance.
  • Works with subject-matter-experts to create or revise Operating Procedures in draft form. Distributes new and revised Procedures to affected parties for review of operational compliance and technical detail. Incorporates review comments when determined to be appropriate .Evaluates whether the procedures needs to be distributed again for additional review. Requests and chairs review meetings when necessary. Ensures necessary approvals are obtained before publication. Provides leadership for Support Personnel involved in the Operating Procedure development, publication and distribution process.

Job Requirements:

  • 5 Five (5) years of related electric transmission experience resulting in demonstrated ability to successfully perform major duties is required.
  • Requires excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Requires excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • These skills include team leadership abilities and negotiation skills required to resolve conflict and solve complex problems.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail and maintain business focus.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Requires the ability to analyze detailed information, draw meaningful conclusions from that information, make decisions and take action to implement changes.

Qualification & Experience:

  • MS Access database development, advanced MS Excel skills and competency with MS Project, Visio and SQL is desired.
  • Knowledge of Grid Operations Business Practices and ability to define system change impacts on business processes is desired.
  • Procedure writing experience is desired.
