Job Description:
Participate in an econometrics, technical, statistical, and intuitive expert consulting group that gives technical expertise and support to multiple business units. Responsible for discovering insights from load research data through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. Oversees and supports the work of lower level load research analysts. Provide timely and accurate load and gas research analysis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and guide other analysts in the preparation of all major load research, analytics endeavors, and departmental load analysis responsibilities.
- Be an advocate for integrity of internal historical data, subscription data, and forecast data. Perform company’s load research studies for use by various departments consistent with industry standards. Prepare strategic statistical analysis, reports, and actionable recommendations on the electric and gas load characteristics within all state service territories as input to rate cases, system planning, and compliance. Work with the Manager of Load Research and various business units to ensure accurate Load Research, analytics, and load analysis in a regulated environment.
Job Requirements:
- Coordinate with business units and provide them expert technical, statistical, and regulatory advice in meeting their business needs. Respond to requests for analyses by business units and for regulatory filings. Help produce forecasting and risk assessment proposals, analyses, and summary reports to support various business unit objectives. Conduct ad hoc analysis and load research projects.
- Plan, design, and implement strategic load research projects. Prepare statistical analysis, reports, and actionable recommendations on the electric and gas load characteristics within company’s entire multi-state service territories as input to rate cases, system planning, and compliance. Ensure that results of load and gas studies are an accurate key input to rate class cost of service studies, pricing design, peak forecasting, DSM/load management program planning, transmission and distribution system planning, and power purchases.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, engineering, mathematics, physics, quantitative analysis, business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience (two years professional related experience equivalent to one year of college), in addition to 5 years or more of electric utility or equivalent experience.
- Quantitative analysis skills and experience with or the ability to learn SAS, Python, R or similar analytics software platforms.
- Able to handle multiple assignments with a high level of attention to detail.
- Graduate degree is desirable.
