Product Designer – Mattel Inc Careers

Job Description:

Mattel, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Sr. Product Designer to join its Dolls product design team. The group is focused on creating new product opportunities for the Large Dolls, Baby Dolls and Hot Toy division; by understanding the consumer, trends and technology that are then translated into successful product. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate will possess proven product design experience showing ability to work on challenging and fun girls’ products as well as ideating new concepts.

Job Responsibilities:

• Execute on both Product Designs and Graphic Designs
• Design and develops dolls and / or hot toys
• Actively generate new designs and ideas to enhance our brands
• Daily communication with Asia partners
• Work in a team environment with cross functional partners
• Partner with Development Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and marketing objectives
• Manage design and development with other disciplines within the company including model makers, sculptors, and soft goods designers
• Successfully present and communicate their concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departments

Job Requirements:

• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Understanding of 3D CAD (Z-brush, Alias, Rhino 3D is a plus)
• Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency
• A love of toys and dolls is a plus
• Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programs such as Procreate
• Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
• Ideal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of the current trends. Understanding of features and play patterns in the toy industry is a must
• PowerPoint proficiency
• Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for toy development
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling several projects at once

Qualification & Experience:

• 4+ years of doll and toy design experience
