Job Description:

The Network Engineer- OT engineers and implements communication systems that support the Operation Technology (OT) system requirements based on current standards as well as designs communication systems to support larger infrastructure projects that add new capability. The Network Engineer- OT will work with a variety of business segments and personnel to accomplish their designs and implementations. This individual must possess technical as well as excellent communications skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides Cyber security guidance, protection of network assets, and continuous cyber improvement awareness
• Basic firewall and firewall rule definition and implementation
• Engineering and implementation of RF (radio frequency) networks supporting Ameren’s FAN
• Engineering and implementation of additions to Ameren’s Private Wireless system for utilization in our Field Area Network (FAN)
• Engineering and implementation of IP switches and routers
• Deployment of networking technologies including MPLS, fiber optic communications, QoS, SNMP, VoIP, routing protocols, etc.
• Engineering and implementation of converged IP networks for LAN, WAN, and FAN supporting electric and gas distribution smart grid systems
• Engineering and implementation of additions to Ameren’s robust private fiber optic backbone within our electric distribution network
• Work with other engineers within the Digital organization as well other business unit engineers that support both the electrical grid and gas operations
• Communicate with internal customers to understand their system requirements

Job Requirements:

• SCADA networks, Smart Grid networks, or wireless technologies. Cisco CCNA or Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent) NRS I Certification is preferred.
  Other: Works normal business hours in an office environment, but may also need to work off-hours for project needs, support/upgrade/outage reasons, and systems implementations. Some travel within Ameren’s Service Territory may be required.

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience: 0+ years of relevant experience. Experience in any of the following areas is preferred but not required: CISCO routers, switches, firewalls, and related equipment, Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent) routers, LANs, WANs, fiber optic transmission system, IP based wireless networks,
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science or business. Will consider candidates without a degree if they show/demonstrate having 2+ years of equivalent, relevant experience in tools, systems and initiatives leveraged by Ameren
