To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a reliable, motivated and knowledgeable Payroll and Tax Analyst to join our team. The Payroll and Tax Analyst is responsible for analyzing current Company liabilities, reconciling to process tax filings and auditing employee level records. The successful candidate has strong local tax knowledge, including employee set up and reporting and possesses a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant payroll tax experience. This position reports to the Payroll Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system controls of tax calculations, prepare and complete investigations, provide tax explanations to employee inquiries and maintain related accounting information
  • Reconcile to process tax filings with a primary goal of ensuring the Company pays the correct amount of taxes
  • Review and confirm accuracy of W2 data at year-end, prepare and assist with year-end and quarter-end filings and processing, validate tax configurations and audit payroll records for accuracy
  • Seek out continuous process efficiencies for improvements, solicit team for feedback, participation and work with other projects
  • Reconcile withholding unemployment and other payroll related tax returns and work with federal, state and local tax agencies on audit requests
  • Assist with processing payroll, maintaining accurate records of tax withheld, payments and reporting
  • Audit employee level records to ensure all employees are paid accurately
  • Analyze current liabilities owed by the Company

Job Requirements:

  • Strong local tax knowledge, including employee set up and reporting
  • Ability to work with others in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Understanding of end-to-end tax functional processes and how the tax functional processes integrate with the overall end-to-end processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong initiative, sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Moderate skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with working in a multi-state environment
  • Four years’ experience working with large volume payrolls
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team orientated while building strong working relationships
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant payroll tax experience
  • Experience with Workday Payroll
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
