Job Description:

PG&E is currently recruiting OQ Evaluators in California. This expert level position is responsible for and leads the evaluating Operator Qualifications (OQ) tasks, using various methods, in testing room, hands-on and field settings. This position is specialized in the area of Measurement Pressure & Control based qualifications. As an OQ Measurement specific technician, this is a multi-skilled position that performs highly technical work . Support operational workgroups with qualifications of personnel performing DOT-regulated pipeline covered tasks, in compliance with federal and applicable state pipeline safety regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mentors and trains new Evaluators (company and/or contractor).
    Mentors and provides expertise during the performance and administration of initial and subsequent complex and non-routine evaluations, written or computer-based qualification tests and field observations of knowledge and skills including new and/or difficult skills and techniques.
    Provides expertise for the modification and enhancement of evaluation/qualification tests and processes.
    Travel to various testing locations throughout PG&E’s service territory and overnight stays are required based on logistics, workload and resource needs.
    Provides expertise regarding the evaluation/qualification processes, addressing gaps and issues identified to improve evaluations, coaching tools, process, and/or materials.
    Leads groups of Evaluators, delegating and coordinating evaluations at testing locations.
    Ensures qualification records are maintained in compliance with qualification program requirements.
    Shares outcomes, observations, trends, gaps and issues with direct supervisor, the employee’s supervisor and/or manager that contribute to the development and implementation of mitigating strategies as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • May be required to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Working Knowledge of PHMSA standards and 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart N and CFR Part 195 Subpart G and of The American Society of
  • Mechanical Engineers standard (ASME) B31Q
  • Development of technical qualification testing.
  • Travel up to 80% time with overnight stays.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback
  • Familiarity with administration and systems requirements for implementing and managing compliance-based programs
  • Excellent computer and analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Development of technical training.
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) certification

Qualification & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years’ experience in Gas operations or construction performing DOT covered tasks
  • Expertise in technical discipline for which incumbent is providing evaluations
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in Operator Qualifications program and process with a focus on program management and regulatory compliance
  • Has experience proctoring Operator Qualifications evaluations per appropriate procedures
  • Certified Welder Inspector (CWI) or other certification
  • 7 years of experience in respective technical trade
