Job Description:
You will serve as Research Scientist involved in Gravitational Wave research within the Astrophysics Branch of the Science Research and Projects Division in the Science and Technology Office.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop data science algorithms and astrophysical models for gravitational wave astronomy; Seek/secure funding through proposals.
- Lead/manage developmental work; Develop, design, model, fabricate and test next generation high-energy astronomy technology.
- Participate in on-going science ground segment developments for space-based gravitational wave missions; conduct research necessary for future programs.
- Conceive new approaches or refine existing techniques; develop prototype analysis pipelines to optimize data analysis procedures; verify/validate prototype pipelines through simulations.
- Serve as a scientific adviser to interns and post-doctoral scholars conducting data science and astrophysical modeling research related to gravitational wave astronomy.
- Publish in peer reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences and workshops, conduct technical reviews and provide similar services to the technical community.

Qualification & Experience:
- You must have successfully completed a bachelor’s or graduate degree with a major in either a) engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science*, or other field of physical science.
- Note: Curriculum must include 30 semester hours of course work in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science. Of the 30 semester hours, 15 must be in any combination of statistics and mathematics which includes differential and integral calculus.
- Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position.
