Job Description: Under general supervision of the MGHfC Ambulatory Nurse Manager, the individual collects specimens for laboratory analysis including blood and urine, perfoms EKG's and POCT and triage. Job Responsibilities: Obtain vital signs on infants, toddlers school age and teenage patients. Excellent interpersonal skills Medical assistant proficient in phlebotomy. Adheres to Best Practice Standards; two patient identifiers, order of draw, proper hand hygiene, patient identification. Effectively performs venipuncture as well as skin puncture applicable on adults, adolescents and school aged children, pediatric venipuncture , finger and heel sticks on infants or toddlers or preschool age children. Job Requirements: Maintain adequate supply inventory and check expiration dates. Facilitates flow of patients from waiting room to lab in a timely manner. Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond accordingly. Attention to detail. Capable of working in a fast paced, high turnover environment with colleagues, caring for diverse pediatric patient population. Familiar with performing POCT and EKG's. Qualification & Experience: Recent experience in phlebotomy, willingness to learn pediatric phlebotomy. Familiar with EMR type documentation. BLS certification High School diploma or equivalent Graduate of training program that includes phlebotomy skills with demonstrated and acceptable competency in phlebotomy.
