Job Description:

  • The Material Specialist position is responsible for executing day-to-day activities in support of warehouse operations including, but not limited to, inventory control, issues, receiving, transfers, chemical inventory and, if applicable, equipment and tools. Assuring inventory accuracy is a critical aspect of the position which includes physical inventory and chemical inventory processes. The job activity ensures the safe movement and handling of required parts and maintenance materials into and out of Duke Energy Facilities. The successful Materials Specialist candidate ensures work priorities are established and adhered to for those activities associated with material handling processes and systems.
  • The Material Specialist will have excellent communication skills and is expected to work effectively with plant management and staff to prioritize, schedule and implement activities related with day-to-day operations and maintenance activities within the Power Generation facility.

Job Responsibilities:

The Material Specialist will be a self-starter and customer-driven to support the supply chain organization and the generation plant operations customers. Also required is the ability to learn new processes and systems within Supply Chain operations including MAXIMO and EMAX applications. This person will be responsible for maintaining excellent communications and relationships with supply chain site procurement and site operations to ensure the efficient flow of commodities in and out of Duke Energy Facilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience working with business unit’s work management, inventory, and material processes
  • Demonstrated work experience using e-mail and Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Works independently with very little direct supervision or review
  • Minimum of two years experience working with purchasing and material handling processes
  • Minimum of one year experience working with corporate accounting systems and interfaces
  • Minimum of two years experience conducting material needs analysis to determine appropriate material requirements for job.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Two-three years experience working with various business units on customer relations issues
  • Detailed knowledge of Supply Chain computer systems
  • At least 3-5 years combined experience in Supply Chain and business unit’s group
  • Excellent working knowledge of customers’ work management system and processes
  • Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Experience establishing strategic direction, promoting teamwork, and successfully meeting business objectives
  • Strong coordination skills
  • Ability to work unassisted, with very limited supervision (self starter and self motivated)
  • Demonstrated statistical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
