Logistics Senior Manager – Dollar General USA Careers

Job Description:

Act as principal leader and technical expert for optimization and design of the distribution network. Lead project management for all development, maintenance, and implementation of transportation systems. Responsible for team conducting department financials, budgeting, accounting, and landed cost analytics to drive savings, process improvements, and compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

DC Network Design & Transportation Optimization

• Direct all analysis and modeling efforts designed to select future DC sites and conduct pro forma analysis around new distribution concepts
• Communicate all analysis and make presentations to senior leadership reflecting 5-year DC opening strategy
• Ensure complete and accurate detailed analytics on all projects
• Resolve issues and make decisions weekly related to DC workload balancing, scheduling of restricted stores to minimize cost and service impact, and ensuring optimal backhaul assignment

Transportation Financial Analytics & Management

• Direct team in producing and publishing all financial reports for department
• Review and approve month end financial accrual, analysis, and reports
• Lead team in all budgeting and forecasting efforts
• Lead efforts to conduct ad-hoc analysis to explain variances to plan
• Be primary expert in fuel pricing, projections, and industry models

Transportation Systems Management

• Manage the development, maintenance, and implementation of all transportation systems
• Responsible for system parameter testing to ensure optimal solutions for the Transportation Management System (TMS) and other major software suites
• Liaison to IT and principal project manager for all systems development and modification
• Works with IT and 3rd party software providers to develop enhancements and solutions to better support transportation operations
• Be educated on and evaluate potential off-the-shelf applications

Landed Cost Analytics

• Lead team in analyzing cost components from initial purchase cost to store-door delivery for optimal profit margins
• Educates merchandising and supply chain on all components of supply chain and alternative flows
• Proactively identifies and initiates analysis through targeted selection, changes in sourcing, or market condition changes
• Works with procurement team during auction or bid events to support both initial event work and post-bid conclusion

Job Requirements:

• Deep working and technical knowledge of transportation management systems designed for problem solving, daily optimization, and strategic optimization solutions
• Broad experience in project management work both as a leader and supporter
• Strong ability to analyze and decipher significant amounts of data to develop insightful reports and conclusions for the business
• Extensive knowledge and operating capability in Microsoft Excel and Access
• Broad general working knowledge of Logistics operations and concepts in a complex, large-scale operating environment
• Strong financial analytical and budgetary skills
• Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form to senior levels
