Organizational Location: This attorney position is located in the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA), Orlando, FL and the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor(OPLA) in El Paso, TX. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages.
Job Responsibilities:
- The ICE Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) is seeking an employment attorney for a position within the located in the OPLA El Paso, TXor OPLA Orlandolocation.
- As an attorney, you will provide legal advice and support to ICE activities and programs in the area of Federal sector employment law.
- Your responsibilities in the position will consist primarily of:
- providing legal advice, training, and support to ICE activities and programs on federal employment law practice, including adverse actions, disciplinary matters, performance issues, prohibited personnel practices, reasonable accommodation, EEO and other issues related to federal employment law practice; and
serving as agency counsel in proceedings before administrative and judicial forums, including arbitration, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, the Office of Special Counsel, and the U.S. Federal Courts. - Applicants must possess superior legal research and writing skills, demonstrated experience advising agency operational components effectively, a proven track record of managing complex legal matters, and strong advocacy skills. Prior experience in labor or employment law, including practice before the administrative and judicial forms listed above, is preferred.
- Applicants must also possess the following characteristics and competencies: integrity, judgment, organizational skills, communication skills, reliability, perseverance, decisiveness, initiative, professionalism, the ability to function independently and as part of a team, interpersonal relationship skills, and outstanding written and oral advocacy skills. The selectee will be required to have or be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Any expenses incurred in relocation for this position will not be reimbursed.

Qualification & Experience:
- Applicants must be a graduate of a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association and an active member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
- Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications; applicant’s resumes and supporting documentation should only reflect education received from schools accredited by such institutions.
