Job Description:

  • PMO Managers are part of the PMO’s leadership team and provide the expertise and leadership required to oversee and deliver strategic enterprise programs and projects at Hawaiian Airlines (HA). This role will serve as a change leader by working closely with enterprise leadership and strategic partners to deliver desired business benefits, while coaching and leading a team of program and project management professionals to learn the business and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Display ability to recognize inefficiencies with processes/procedures and proactively offer suggestions for improvements. Canvas influencers outside of the project scope, not just within the defined path (i.e. continue with existing processes because that is how it has always been done.)
  • Ability to lead discussions with stakeholders from multiple backgrounds who have conflicting priorities; act as mediator if teams are not aligned and drive towards a recommendation or solution
  • Understand how to translate business needs into releases that strategically deliver business value
  • Engage with business stakeholders to deliver an exceptional experience, demonstrating a commitment to work with them until they are successful
  • Demonstrate organizational savvy being sensitive to how people in various organizations function
  • Coach and mentor program and project managers to be inquisitive about business stakeholder challenges
  • Approach business projects with a sense of curiosity by asking thoughtful and focused questions to gain insights on processes, data movement, reporting needs, regulatory/compliance requirements, revenue cycles, etc.
  • Ensure teams adopt practices which demonstrate a strong understanding of the business domain by collecting information through a variety of methods such as shadowing, interviews, surveys, data analytics, benchmark studies
  • Position team to be business subject matter experts who can assist with providing direction and guidance to delivery partners to solve business challenges

Job Requirements:

  • Proven ability to advance team expertise on business domain knowledge and apply it to project delivery
  • Expert knowledge in process modeling and methods to elicit current and future state requirements
  • Expertise with facilitating and collecting use stories from stakeholders. Ability to decompose and organize into epics for release planning purposes
  • Experience with change management/business readiness practices, methods and tools
  • Excellent relationship management and consulting skills, especially at the executive level.
  • Advanced ability to build and maintain delivery schedules complimenting the applied delivery methodology
  • Proficiency with collaboration, resource planning, portfolio management, and program management tools
  • Valid PMP designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or other valid program management certification (e.g., PgMP). In process certifications shall be considered

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Direct experience managing 7 or more multi-year projects and/or programs of significant complexity end to end, with a budget equal to or greater than $20MM with high-risk; or 15 years of equivalent relevant airline industry experience
  • 5 years of people management experience or equivalent of proven leadership experience in a highly matrixed organization
