Job Description:
Transmission System Planning and Operations offers qualified students, in accredited engineering programs leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree, the opportunity to work in various areas of engineering on a rotational basis as part of the engineering cooperative program. Transmission System Planning and Operations operates the transmission grid in real time and provides the analytical support to ensure that is accomplished safely and reliably. Engineering Co-Ops will work alongside staff engineers who analyze the transmission system configuration to specify procedures and upgrades necessary for reliable operation and maintain and enhance the Energy Management System used for control of the system. An engagement with Transmission System Planning and Operations could also be included with the rotational positions available in Transmission Line Engineering, Protection & Controls Engineering, System Standards, Substation Engineering, Asset Management, Transmission Planning, Siting Permitting & Engagement and Project Management.
Qualification & Experience:
- Valid driver’s license
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in use of computers, software, and engineering applications (CAD tools, MFAD, STAAD Pro, MatLab, PSS/E, PowerWorld)
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. (ABET Accreditation can be verified here: http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx)
- Class status as a Sophomore or Junior preferred
- Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
- Demonstrated leadership qualities through effective decision making
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrates ability to provide the quantity and quality of work necessary to reach an accomplishment
- Previous engineering work experience
