Job Description:

The Schwab organization is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Data Governance Analyst who will be a member of the Data Management Technology team for Schwab’s enterprise data inventory program. He or she will work directly with Schwab’s technical subject matter experts to operationalize and maintain an enterprise wide data inventory which captures details about Schwab’s applications, databases and data.
The Data Governance Technical Analyst will gain in depth knowledge of Data Management Technology’s tools, services, projects, and support service levels. He or she will be accountable for delivery on our team’s governance commitments leveraging Agile project methodology. Additionally, this resource will be responsible for documenting and maintaining internal processes and controls that meet Schwab’s software delivery lifecycle practices and policies relating to our data inventory.
The Data Governance Technical Analyst will report to the Senior Manager for Metadata and Governance Tools within Schwab’s Data Management Technology group in Global Data Technology.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute sustainability processes within our enterprise metadata repository to maintain an up-to-date and accurate inventory
  • Work closely with other enterprise teams who utilize the inventory to apply proper security controls to sensitive data
  • Oversee the IBM Information Governance Catalog application operating model to align with the data inventory model requirements
  • Coordinate with application architects to sustain and certify the data inventory
  • Interact with various levels of the Schwab organization to capture, analyze, and report changes on technology assets
  • Document processes and standards for operations for the data inventory program
  • Provide reporting, and perform quality checks to ensure data is accurate and current
  • Support implementation of upgrades and future implementation of data governance tools
  • Champion Schwab data governance policies, standards, and best practices across the STS organization as they relate to the data inventory program
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or a related field
  • 2+ years of data-centric IT work
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working in data management tools including technical and business metadata, data quality, data profiling, and data lineage, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a regulatory, risk, and compliance environment and supporting associated projects
  • Experience writing and executing SQL code and queries to assist with data manipulation, validation and analysis
  • Good understanding of data warehousing and associated concepts (OLAP, ETL, Dimensions, Facts, etc.)
  • Ability to think and communicate in both a business and technology context

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with IBM Information Governance Catalog, Collibra Data Governance Center, and/or Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog
  • Must understand the importance and benefits of good data quality and be able to champion results across functions
  • Ability to understand, translate, and communicate abstract concepts/ideas in a clear, concise, and easy to understand communication style
  • Must demonstrate analytical problem solving and research skills that allow working with problems that are complex and often unique
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, prioritization, decision making, and conflict resolution skills

Qualification & Experience:

  • 2+ years of data governance or related experience
  • 2+ years of project management skills including the ability to effectively juggle multiple, simultaneous work streams with different timelines and demands
  • 1+ years of recent experience assisting in development of a data governance program
  • Experience in the financial services industry a plus
