Job Description:
Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for providing the more complex staff support services for Telecommunications Section.
Job Responsibilities:
- The specific duties include, but are not limited to: answering and screening incoming telephone calls and routing them appropriately; handling human resources documents for employees; serving as Benefit Coordinator; coordinating the submission of section time sheets (CHP 71, Attendance Report); organizing travel-related documents for staff members, and P-Card records for the Section; maintaining the section’s occupational safety program.
- This position also obtains, sorts, and distributes all incoming mail for the Section, and creates and maintains personnel folders, rosters, and emergency contact lists for all Section employees.
Job Requirements:
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section).
- You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the JOBS.ca.gov website.

- Desirable qualifications: Individual should be motivated and consistently exercise a high degree of initiative and independence in performing their assigned tasks. Additionally, the selected individual should have:
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Polite and professional telephone skills
- Competent computer skills
- The flexibility to take on additional assignments as needed
- The willingness to work in a team environment
