Job Description:

Plans, directs, and oversees all aspects of park safety operations. Promotes the safety of park associates, guests and property. Ensures compliance with environmental, fire and safety regulations as established by the Company and local, state, and federal agencies. Manages and controls park insurance expenses related to liability claims by monitoring case management and settling small claims. Oversees the Park’s risk management program; and, promotes awareness to reduce the risk of serious incidents. Supervises and reviews the work of subordinate supervisory and support staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and/or conducts accident investigations; makes recommendations to departments to alter procedures or practices based on information obtained during investigations. Ensures the completion of accurate documentation.
  • Manage appropriate emergency medical services, including the operation of appropriate first aid and clinic facilities, for the medical treatment of guests and employees.
  • Selects, trains, schedules and supervises all Safety Department employees to make sure that a high level of quality service is being offered and that employees are knowledgeable of and proficient in proper procedures. Takes disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationship with other park departments; Coordinates safety and emergency response planning and training.
  • Develops & implements an action plan for the park’s Safety Department each to provide for the safety of park guests and employees, the mitigation of the loss of company assets and the park’s compliance with all federal, state and local safety laws and ordinances.
  • This includes reviewing park injury & illness incident reports, producing and submiting OSHA and safety related forms, & compiling & reviewing park safety statistics.
  • Ensures that federal, state and local fire/safely laws, regulations, codes and standards are observed and that required records and reports are completed.
  • Develop, establish, and implement associate safety training programs.
  • Develops and conducts training and orientation for all Safety and First Aid staff members and safety-related training for all park personnel.
  • Works with other park departments to develop and implement safety procedures, requirements, and programs and to ensure the development and presentation of safety-related training.

Job Requirements:

  • Amusement Park Safety Inpsector and National Incident Mgmt Systems ICS-100/200 preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA codes and AmusementPark ASTM standards.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Completion of Public Safety or Occupational Health and Safety education coursework and related degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • 6-8 years of related experience.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of personnel, guests, emergency response personnel, law enforcement, insurance representatives, auditors, inspectors, various government agencies, hospital/health care personnel, court personnel attorneys etc.
  • Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • CPR and First Aid training required.
