Caterpillar Jobs – 3rd shift Fabrications Support

Job Description:

Under general supervision, provides fabrications support activities including loading robots and/or machining centers as well as ensuring cleanliness of the area. Position will utilize tooling, fixtures, handling systems, safety, quality checks and other duties as assigned. Typically reports to a Section Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain Fabrications area in a clean and orderly condition
• Learn and follow welding and/or machinist standard processes and procedures
• Follows documented procedures, standard work, routings and blueprints
• Initial set-up and operation of CNC and/or robot welding machines
• Assist Machinists or Welders with certain processes
• Basic robot maintenance including but not limited to, clearing faults, resetting the robot, replacing weld tips, restringing weld wire, rehoming the robot verifying tooling & fixturing, and operating pallet transport system.
• Follow and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting Waste Elimination, and Standard Work
• May rotate to various positions within the Job Function are to perform related activities
• Load and position heavy fabrication metal component in machining fixtures using lifting devices
• May be required to operate walk-behind or ride-on sweepers

Qualification & Experience:

• Robotic welding machine or CNC Machine experience
• Material handling experience
• At least one year of manufacturing experience
• Experience with Overhead Hoists and Overhead Cranes
• Intermediate proficiency (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) in standard work
• Experience loading/unloading fabricated structures into a fixture
