Job Description:
The Building Construction Products (BCP) Compliance Engineer is responsible for applying regulatory compliance processes to the Mini Hydraulic Excavator (MHE) product design control, ensuring world-wide market access (ability to certify and sell) of a Caterpillar MHE Product. Responsibilities include certification of the equipment in accordance with regional and local regulations. The role contributes to the on-time, on-quality product delivery to customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in NPI core team meetings, NPI team meetings, and space claim meetings
- Act as a single point of contact between product group, corporate standards and regs, and any 3rd party agency/notified body
- Collect all information related to the assigned application project.
- Provide New Product Introduction (NPI) support/feedback for compliant machine design
- Approve engineering change order for all prints that impact product compliance / product safety
- Work across functions (with various internal groups) to establish and achieve cost reduction & timely delivery.
- Place all supporting compliance documents and maintain them in a secure location with correct retention schedule
- Report to department manager while executing project engineering activities.
- Provide design support during construction/commissioning phase.
- Request corporate approval for listing product as compliant to specific regulations
Job Requirements:
- Understanding of European regulations (machinery directive), EN474
- Testing to ISO standards experience
- Knowledge of international standards, export law and regulations as applied to construction equipment products.
- Direct compliance support of construction products
- Capable to read, understand, discuss and make necessary design changes on drawings, in manuals and technical documents, etc.
- Ability to present, communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 8 years job related experience in design, engineering, manufacturing and service of electrical/mechanical equipment with a focus on product compliance.
