Job Description:
JPL’s Communications and Education Directorate is looking for a Business Analyst. This is a great opportunity to be part of an organization that helps inspires the next generation of explorers and shares the excitement of our missions with the world, while providing communication assistance to the JPL community. You will be a member of the Business Management Office and report to the 18x Business Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- IWF reporting and analysis.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly scheduled and ad-hoc financial analyses, reports and data as requested by management for strategic planning, performance reporting and forecasting.
- Collaborate with customers to achieve business objectives and increase the efficiency of the organization, as well as serve as a liaison on a variety of business-related issues.
- Perform ad hoc duties as needed.
- Budget development (burden and direct) and financial planning, analysis, and reporting oversight, workforce analysis, rewards and recognition, facilities, safety, and property management.
- Assist in developing, coordinating, and improving procedures within the organization to meet JPL’s administrative and business requirements.
- Developing automated reports, dashboards, and business metrics.
- Assist with Personnel Requisitions, Priceouts for new hires, Promotions, ASR, Awards (NASA & JPL), etc.
- Assisting with the acquisitions process using various software and purchasing methods: iProcurement, Oracle Acquisitioning (POs, PSs); sole source documentation, and ServiceNow (ManTech).
Job Requirements:
- A successful history of establishing trust with customers and working as a strong, collaborative business lead with all levels of personnel; both business and technical.
- Ability to present complex findings in a clear, concise manner using graphics, tables and high-level summarization – both verbally and in writing.
- Wide-ranging experience and sophisticated knowledge in one or more of the following: budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, human resources, workforce planning, safety, property, and facility management.
- Self-starter with proven track record to plan, prioritize, multi-task, complete assignments, and resolve highly complex issues independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to use tact and discretion when working with critical or confidential data.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.) and familiarity with Workday or other HRIS and applicant tracking systems or databases.
- Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; Masters degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 1 years of related experience.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Broad understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in Business Administration, Financial Planning, Workforce Administration, and Safety and Facility Management.
- Strong professional characteristics: diligent, trustworthy, responsible, hardworking, and intellectually curious. The ideal candidate takes initiative and ownership of work and possesses an improvement mentality.
Qualification & Experience:
- Solid understanding of direct project support and familiarity with task plan process.
- Administrative experience in the areas of financial analysis, budgeting, cost analysis, asset management, workforce planning, and human resources.
- Experience in the use of budgeting and reporting tools including Institutional Budgeting Tool (IBT), PowerBI, Discoverer, OBIEE, IWF, etc.
- Knowledge of JPL policies, procedures, processes and financial systems.
- Experience using G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms) and other survey generating systems.
