Job Description:
- In this job you’ll help drive our Consumer cross brand Design System initiative Loop. You’ll be enabling our Consumer delivery squads by producing the components, framework and best practice guidelines which allows them to rapidly build and deploy front end code for the websites and applications seen by millions of customers each month. It’s a role where performance, accessibility, security and ease of use are more than a passing consideration.
Job Responsibilities:
- Building and codifying our framework agnostic Design system (Loop) to allow Consumer feature squads to deliver at pace
- Contribute to platform technical direction and strategy
- Contribute to squad ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, demo, retrospective)
- Analyse site and page speed and help provide performance solutions.
- Escalate impediments when appropriate and ensure long-term solutions are pursued with pragmatism.
- Work with Architecture, Engineering teams and other stakeholders to ensure the correct technical decisions are being made to deliver brilliant experiences for both internal and external customers
- Drive forward items from the improvement initiatives
- Peer review software written by team members
- Write unit tests and other automated tests
- Write clean, comprehensive and scalable code.
- Working closely with the journey based product feature squads to help support their deliveries and also build out the design system contributions within a federated model
- Able to confidently and independently complete development tasks.
- Ensuring the correct front end patterns are in place in Consumer to leverage the above
- Peer review squad work and coach and mentor junior team members
Job Requirements:
- Good communication skills – written and verbal
- Good interpersonal and teamworking skills.
- Ability to successfully collaborate as part of an Agile development team and with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to engineer solutions
- Identify opportunities to build once and deploy multiple times
- JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SCSS, Accessibility standards and responsive design.
- Ability to manage their own time and assist others to meet sprint commitments in terms of functionality delivered.
- Working with and defining DevOps CI/CD pipelines
- Able to help drive technical decisions with clear evidence of rational
- Communication of complicated technical requirements to the business leaders and project teams in both technical non-technical language depending on the audience
- Working with multi location onshore and offshore teams
- Self starter who takes responsibility for their own ongoing learning and fosters this culture within the wider team
- Any cross platform native app development experience (e.g. React Native, flutter)
- Performance optimisation
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience in deploying Serverless with AWS Lambdas
- React: 3+ years
- Design System experience
- JS Functional programming experience 1+years
- Experience in driving implementation of test driven approaches (TDD BDD).
- Typescript 1+ years
- Experienced consuming REST APIs.Experience in other front end frameworks/libraries
- Previous experience contributing to a Design System initiative, ideally at scale
