Job Description:

• We are seeking a hardworking Application Support Engineer for our Web Operations and Global Production Support teams to provide production application support, system maintenance and continuous improvement of our internal and public web sites.
• Our sites and web applications are crafted to deliver financial data and tools which enable our customers to make informed investment decisions. This role is as a member of an established distributed team. Coordination with peers and customers across the globe is a daily activity. The support engineer should be passionate about providing production support for web site and applications through both rapid and detailed response to issues. This role will also identify, analyze, and figure out the root cause of problems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Significant involvement in the DR exercise for the application stack
• Work within the existing application support team to analyze & resolve production issues, including the debugging, analysis and identification of application issues, for a range of the web content of e-commerce products and services through applying knowledge of multi-tiered web application architecture
• Ability to find opportunities and develop web operational tools streamlining and simplifying the BAU activities
• Build strong relationships with the business through delivery, communication and domain knowledge
• Co-ordinate and support deployment activities across various applications within the platform
• Analyze, debug and resolve sophisticated SQL and shell scripts
• Coordinate processing of various feeds from multiple vendors
• Identify root cause, remedial action and implement long term improvement activities to continuously improve the service provided to the business
• Review the monitoring alerts on web pages, data loads & resolve / call out problems as appropriate
• Active monitoring of production load jobs via Autosys (or another tool) including stopping, restarting and closely watching failed jobs
• Load balancing application traffic using F5 load balancer (or any other) and log analysis using Splunk
• Responsible for the data load process, supervising through the Informatica ETL workflows, reviewing workflow failures and addressing them thereby ensuring the timelines of loading and validating data for the websites supported are met
• Provide weekend on-call support for all business applications and websites supported on a rotation basis

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of Database schema application and design, database concepts like Stored Procedures, views, tables, JOINs, cursors
• Good understanding of Unix / Linux Operating System & hands on with Unix commands & regular expressions
• Ability to run PL / SQL statements to perform DDL and DML Operations on database tables
• Basic understanding of Apache Cassandra and Hadoop infrastructure
• Basic understanding of ETL, debug procedures, Knowledge of at least one of the tools used in ETL such as Informatica , Ab
• Initio, CloverETL, Talend Studio for Data Integration, Pentaho.
• Good understanding on DNS, CNAMES, Firewall, memory management, JVM optimization, web server security and common threat methods
• Basic knowledge of any programming language (Perl/Python), XML structures, FTP
• Work with various partners (both internal and external), analyzing data issues in source files and coordinating resolution across multiple groups
• Good understanding of Application/Web Servers/Tools: JBoss, Apache, Tomcat

Qualification & Experience:

• 4+ years of proven track record supporting Web based applications
• Experience in Java, Python or Perl & working on Cloud based infrastructure
