Job Description:
The incumbent serves as a Motion Picture Preservation Technician in the Motion Picture Preservation Lab of the Moving Image and Sound Preservation Labs Branch (RXM), National Archives and Records Administration.
Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming and permanent motion picture holdings as well as additional inspection projects as requested by the archival unit, Presidential
- Libraries, and/ or Regional Archives.
- Digitize original archival motion picture records using computer hardware and software technology.
- Produce video and audio files
Job Requirements:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
Qualification & Experience:
- Specialized experience for the GS-7: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes handling, inspecting, and digitizing archival motion picture film by utilizing a variety of hardware and software applications to obtain accurate representations of the original (i.e. color correction). Examples of such specialized experience should include:
- Experience handling, inspecting and repairing archival motion picture films; OR
- Experience using motion picture playback equipment such as film scanners and applying digital audio and video techniques to the content.
