Job Description:
This position is in the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), National Archives and Records Administration. As a Program Analyst in ISOO, you will be responsible for inspecting and evaluating the security classification programs of federal agencies that create or handle classified information; serving as ISOO Liaison to such agencies; serving as team leader for special studies or projects; and for advising the Director on policies pertaining to security classification programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect and evaluate the security classification programs of federal agencies that create or handle classified information.
- Review and process appeals, questions or complaints from stakeholders, including Executive branch agencies, other work units, and the public on matters related to information security, including classification, declassification, and safeguarding in accordance with Executive Order 13526 and its implementing directive.
- Analyze reports submitted by agencies concerning their information security programs, including classification, declassification, and safeguarding.
- Identify deficiencies, trends, problem areas, and prepare narrative and statistical records incorporating such data, including recommendations, as required, to resolve inconsistencies and problem areas.
- Represent the Director of ISOO in meetings with senior agency representatives designated by the Head of an agency, for the purpose of discussing the agency’s program in detail, reviewing oversight findings, and recommending corrective action.
Job Requirements:
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- Designated and/or Random Drug Testing may be required.
Qualification & Experience:
- Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Specialized experience includes:
- Inspect, evaluate, and analyze agency security classification regulations, policies and practices in order to determine the degree of agency compliance with Executive Order 13526, ISOO directives, and applicable agency regulations.; AND
- Evaluating information security programs, regulations or policies (such as: classifying, safeguarding, declassifying classified national security information).; AND
- Providing and communicating technical information to agencies and the public on matters related information security programs, including classification, declassification, and safeguarding.
