Job Description:
The Alternate Parts Analyst will evaluate and document alternate parts opportunity and alternative repair options for aircraft consumables, expendable and components. Alternative parts will be through the Parts Manufacturing Authority (PMA), Owner Produced Parts (OPP) and Designated Engineering Representative (DER) processes. Individual will work within the Procurement Groups and work closely with Aircraft Engineering and industry suppliers to identify stand-alone and/or Next Higher Assembly (NHA) components for alternative parts/DER opportunities. Once identified, individual will establish the support package/documents for internal engineering approval.
Job Responsibilities:
The Alternate Parts analyst supports the many technical needs of various groups. This includes but is not limited to Aircraft Engineering, Airline Procurement, Airline Provisioning, Material Asset Management, and others. Alternative Parts (PMA) candidates are identified and logged, then scrutinized for airline suitability. Specific model eligibility, interchangeability, usage, price, availability, lead time, reliability, and other data will be documented as part of the approval submittal. If approved, the PMA package is then followed to ensure proper application and implementation as well as cost savings documentation. Additional Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and NHA parts are identified and then targeted for PMA development. Owner produced and DER development is also considered. The PMA analyst has ongoing interaction with established (and potential) PMA, OP & DER suppliers. Excellent record keeping and attention to detail is required.
Job Requirements:
Formal training in a relevant aviation field and aerospace industry experience. Degree preferred. Must understand the effects of material support on the maintenance organization. Candidate must possess a technical, statistical, and analytical aptitude to interpret OEM Drawings, IPCs, AMM, MELs, E/Os, etc.
Qualification & Experience:
Prefer 5 years’ experience in an airline support function. Prefer a working knowledge of UPS supporting systems (MIPS, IMPACTS, ADMS, etc.). Familiarity with GMM, FARs, and other regulatory requirements. Ability to interpret and apply requirements in Service Bulletins (SBs), Advisory Directives (ADs), Advisory Circulars, and Service Letters. Ability to draft a technically formatted TPCR. Strong communication skills. Ability to collect technical and cost data and identify trends.
