Job Description:

This role will lead the Finishing department to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment consistent with Market Based Management (MBM)® philosophy and framework.  This role will be responsible for supporting the Foley Work System Progression Design to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business.  The position reports to the Front-End Operations Manager and manages three direct reports and a dotted line to 88 employees, including union members.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the quality of work & provide direction to team members to maximize efficiency
  • Facilitating team development/growth, and reviewing/managing performance
  • Building employee commitment & ownership and holding employees accountable
  • Developing job plans, track work completion and promote preventive & predictive maintenance for operations
  • Partnering with internal & external customers to meet and anticipate needs, regarding quality, on-time, and cost-effective production
  • Identifying contributions and missed opportunities within the department and provide recognition and/or lead gap closure plans
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and solving production issues
  • Striving for safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, & accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved
  • Ensuring the department operates reliably, effectively and efficiently produce quality product for domestic and international customers
  • Identifying key performance indictors and inspire & lead team to meet or exceed goals

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in the pulp & paper industry
  • Experience managing in a union environment
  • Experience in transportation or logistics
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance preferred
  • Experience using CMMS system such as SAP, Asset Suite or Passport
  • Experience managing performance & development of salaried personnel
  • Experience with reliability tools, such as root cause failure analysis & preventative/predicative maintenance tools
  • Experience working a manufacturing environment

Qualification & Experience:

  • Five years or more of supervisory experience in Paper mill or similar manufacturing industry
  • Experience in employee performance management and change management
  • Experience with Microsoft Word (typing documents) and Excel (pulling reports, creating spreadsheets & entering data)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or industrial management
  • Paper Mill experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher OR five years or more of relevant work experience
