Job Description: To provide technical accounting advisory services, assistance and training to KPMG partners and staff (audit, tax and advisory) and KPMG clients through the Africa region – levels of responsibility may vary for managers and senior managers, but will include management of staff, engagements and projects. Job Responsibilities: Being a technical consultant on specified audit engagements to provide dedicated technical accounting advisory services and support to the audit team and client Assisting with the preparation and presentation of accounting updates and training on IFRS for KPMG partners, staff and KPMG clients through the African region Providing technical accounting advisory services to KPMG clients on implementation projects within the larger RAAS BU. Assisting with updating the various technical “tools”, such as the South African illustrative disclosures disclosure checklists, and other tools Writing technical briefs and other articles for KPMG partners and staff on accounting application issues, including contentious or complex issues Writing accounting articles for external publication and distribution Researching and answering accounting queries for KPMG staff and clients in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), IFRS for SME’s* and US GAAP* (*to a lesser extent) Writing accounting opinions for KPMG audit teams and clients in accordance with IFRS, IFRS for SME’s* and US GAAP* (*to a lesser extent) Staying up to date with developments in both local standards and IFRS through internal research and involvement on local topic teams and market interest groups Job Requirements: Good computer skills (Microsoft word, excel and powerpoint) Able to take initiative, and manage people, projects and engagements Able to work independently and as part of a team Could have knowledge of US GAAP (not essential) Ambition to contribute to building a successful and profitable department Keen interest in researching and dealing with accounting-related issues Willingness to keep up to date with developments in local and international accounting standards Good working knowledge and understanding of IFRS Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills (including writing) Able to deal with various tasks at once and meet deadlines Proactive Works well under pressure A passion for accounting technical matters Able to deal effectively with individuals at all levels within KPMG and external to KPMG Strong problem solving and analytical skills Good organisational and time management skills Qualification & Experience: Job Details: Company: KPMG Vacancy Type: Full Time Job Functions: Finance Job Location: Johannesburg, SA Application Deadline: N/A Apply Here careersvite.com
