Job Description: The Mechanic Assistant under general supervision maintains and services a wide variety of vehicles and motorized equipment; makes minor repairs to vehicles and equipment. This position reports to the Lead and Fleet Manager. Job Responsibilities: Assists mechanics as helper Checks tire pressure Changes tires and wheels Checks water, batteries, transmissions, brakes and differentials on vehicles Makes minor repairs and adjustments to vehicles Transports vehicles to garage for servicing and repair Maintains oil and fuel records, service records, and similar data Checks and records mileage Inspects automobile, trucks, buses and other vehicles Drives motorize vehicles on and off grounds Job Requirements: General servicing requirements for vehicles and motorized equipment Keep simple records Basic mechanical principles and mechanic’s tools and equipment Qualification & Experience: Education, training and/or experience which would demonstrate the essential functions, knowledge and skills outlined.
