Job Responsibilities:
- Assist management with ad hoc requests/special projects
- Work closely with Finance to develop and refine relevant processes to achieve efficiencies
- Research and prepare explanations for balance sheet and income statement variances related to revenue and COGS, returns reserves, obsolescence reserves, and related financial statement line items
- Assist in the preparation, coordination, review and analysis of the inventory reporting processes for month-end and quarter-end with focus on management, segment, and corporate deliverables
- Review and update documentation of business processes, and ensure compliance with key controls
- Responsible for the day-to-day general ledger, inventory, and cost accounting activities for the vertical Publishing business
- Prepare income statement and balance sheet analysis
- Provide monthly and quarterly close assistance for other accounting team members
Job Requirements:
- Inventory and cost accounting experience
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, proficiency in tools allowing processing of massive data sets (Excel, Access, SQL)
- Experience with SAP or other Enterprise accounting systems
- B.A. or B.S. in Finance/Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Qualification & Experience:
- Excellent organization skills and effective communication skills (written & verbal)
- Ability to work proactively, independently, and as a strategic partner in a team environment
- Demonstrate understanding of US GAAP Financial Statements
- Ability to thrive in a strategic and creative environment which requires rapid learning, being flexible with work schedule, and prioritizing under tight deadlines
- Strong problem solving, decision making, and continuous process improvement skills
