Job Description: You will serve as Research Scientist involved in Gravitational Wave research within the Astrophysics Branch of the Science Research and Projects Division in the Science and Technology Office. Job Responsibilities: Develop data science algorithms and astrophysical models for gravitational wave astronomy; Seek/secure funding through proposals. Lead/manage developmental work; Develop, design, model, fabricate and test next generation high-energy astronomy technology. Participate in on-going science ground segment developments for space-based gravitational wave missions; conduct research necessary for future programs. Conceive new approaches or refine existing techniques; develop prototype analysis pipelines to optimize data analysis procedures; verify/validate prototype pipelines through simulations. Serve as a scientific adviser to interns and post-doctoral scholars conducting data science and astrophysical modeling research related to gravitational wave astronomy. Publish in peer reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences and workshops, conduct technical reviews and provide similar services to the technical community. Qualification & Experience: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's or graduate degree with a major in either a) engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science*, or other field of physical science. Note: Curriculum must include 30 semester hours of course work in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science. Of the 30 semester hours, 15 must be in any combination of statistics and mathematics which includes differential and integral calculus. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position.
