Job Description: This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration, National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), Office of Management which directs NCTR's business operations and serves as the principle agent tot he Center Director, NCTR for: budgeting, human capital management, training and professional development, and other administrative support functions. Job Responsibilities: Assists authors or subject matter experts to improve the written material as to consistency, clarity, and succinctness as well as sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Discusses presentation and revisions with the author prior to finalizing the documents to ensure technical accuracy and that the selection and presentation of information is consistent with the purpose of the publication and its intended audience. Analyzes and edits both draft and final versions of a variety of scientific and technical papers and manuscripts; as well as writing and editing lay-friendly materials where the information presented is easily verified. Advises authors of options and alternatives on the selection, arrangement, form, and content of the end product. Writes and edits technical, scientific and lay-friendly publications for consistency of fact; logical and meaningful presentation of information; style, format, accuracy of graphs, charts, illustrations; readability; plain language and completeness.
